Ocala - Michael Eugene Bates, 75, died Sunday, June 22, 2014 at the St. Joseph's Campus of Mission hospitals in Asheville, NC.
Born on March 7, 1939 in Dade County, FL, he was the son of the late Robert Howard and Wretha Willey Bates. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brothers; Bobby, Larry, and Chuck Bates and his sister; Era Frances Oge.
Michael was a member of the Countryside Baptist Church in Ocala and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He loved to fish, work with wood and traveling.
Left to cherish his memories are his wife of fifty-four years; Mary Jean Cox Bates of Ocala, FL; his sons; Michael Edward Bates of Hawaii and Steven Eugene Bates and partner, David Dick of Gainesville, FL; and his daughter; Trena Jean Bates and fiancée, Donavan Kargel of Inglis, FL.
The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence at the memorial service honoring the life of Mr. Michael Bates at 3:00 pm on Saturday, July 12, 2014 at the Countryside Baptist Church.
