Mike was my best friend when I lived in Ocala from 1964 to 1968.
He was the most intelligent person I have ever known in my 74 years of life. I will miss his laugh, his stories, and his very sharp wit. Mike was a very special individual and could do anything he set his mind to do!

They say it is important to remember people after they pass on, because they continue to live in your memory. Mike and I graduated from St Leo together and I still see him in my mind's eye running the 100 yd dash. He is still in my memory some 40+ years later.

"Putting pen to paper" at a time like this has been just about impossible for me. When Michael married Jeanette it was as though he became the son I had never had. I felt so blessed when he chose to call me "memaw". Michael, you were the sweetest husband to Jeanette. I remember the day you told me she was "your angel". You enjoyed so many wonderful and new fun things with her, it was a joy to listen to you talk about it! You had such plans for retirement, it breaks my heart you both were not able to realize them. When our Lord goes to his garden he picks only the best flowers. He did that with you. You were unlike most people, you NEVER said an unkind thing about anyone. Be happy in Heaven, we will watch over your "angel" for you, and we shall all meet again someday! Love, memaw (Gail Charcholla)

I knew Mike from ValCom Computer Center and lost touch with him for a few years. Hope he got to ride that classic Indian Chief motorcycle of his... Godspeed Mike ...

I worked with Mike at Valcom Computer Center in 1984 and 1985. Mike was solidly a 'Radio Shack' PC guy and it was a trip to work on IBM PC's with him. One of the last of a breed of die-hard, self-taught computer professionals, Mike rose at OPD to bring computers to the forefront there.

I'll miss Mike; he was an honest man, a man of integrity and a blast to work with. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family; he was just a fantastic person.

Mike Deines was an amazing guy who always gave his best. He was technically brilliant, always loved a challenge, never compromised on quality, and never refrained from stopping what he was doing to help someone in need or with a question. Mike gave his utmost best to our Community, to Scouting, his hobbies, his family and the Ocala Police Department. He managed an IT operation that was always on the cutting edge of technology and made history on many occasions to include developing the first mobile data system for the Ocala Police Department and the City of Ocala. Mike always had the respect of all those who worked with and for him because you could count on his dedication and tireless effort. Mike Deines left his mark on all that he touched, created, retooled and created. He was proud of his craftsmanship, his commitment to excellence and the relationships of all those he knew and worked with not only in OPD but our Community.

To Jeannette and all the Deines Family we thank you for sharing Mike and his many talents and you can seek solace in knowing that Ocala and Marion County is a better place because of the many contributions and memories contributed by Mike. Our prayers are with you and Mike and may the good Lord provide you comfort and peace during this time of need.

If roses grow in heaven Lord, then pick a bunch for me. Place them in my dad's arms and tell him they're from me. Tell him that I love and miss him, and when he turns to smile, place a kiss upon his cheek and hold him for awhile.... My heart will never be the same, you will always be my hero... I love and miss you Dad!

So sorry to read of Michael's passing. I was just thinking about him the other day. I attended Blessed Trinity Academy with him 1st through 8th grade and we were in boy scouts together. Though I've had no contact with him for years, the memories of those days of old remain. May the Deines family and all of Mike's friends take comfort in knowing that he rests in loving arms of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Mike was there years ago to help me through a computer crisis converting an old Radio Shack disc on Marion-Dunn Lodge material written by the late Lee McGehee. Mike was as honest as his father, Bruce Deines, and that is all a father can hope for -- that his son will be known as a good man. God bless the family.
