CARDILLO, PETER, 88
Ocala - Jesus came and called Peter from this life on March 9, 2013.
Mr. Cardillo was instrumental in development of McCann Technical School from inception with Charles McCann, and Peter's becoming a machine shop teacher in 1963, and Principal in 1966 until his retirement in 1983. A veteran of the U.S. Navy, Mr. Cardillo was an aviation machinist from 1943 to 1946. Later he was employed by the Hoosac Valley Optical Co. of North Adams, Sprague Electric and the James Hunter Machine Co.
Mr. Cardillo married his high school sweetheart, Helen Hubbard, in 1948 and together they had three children. A 1944 graduate of Drury High School, he holds a BS degree in Education from Westfield State College. He enjoyed music, golf, cribbage and travel. Mr. Cardillo was a long time member of the North Adams Country Club until he moved to Florida in 1983.
He is predeceased by his wife, Helen, in 2007. Mr. Cardillo is survived by his daughters Paula Carman of Cary, NC, Patricia Erdeski and her husband Mark, of Stamford, VT and son, Peter Cardillo of Beverly Hills, FL where Mr. Cardillo made his home. He leaves seven grandchildren: Amelia and SGT Noah Carman U.S. Army; Taylor, John, SPC Arich Erdeski U.S. Army and Michael and Christopher Cardillo and one great grandchild who is expected shortly. He also leaves a sister, Christina Moran and her husband Alfred of Adams, MA as well as several nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by two brothers, Pasquale and Francis Cardillo and one sister Angela Mullen.
Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Marion County, Florida. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, March 22, 2013 at 8:30 a.m. at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, SR 200, Ocala, FL to be followed with inurnment at Florida National Cemetery at 10:30 a.m. with Military Honors provided by Angela Santos Post #4781.
