Ocala - Richard "Dick" Randolph Johnson, 78, passed away, Friday, November 9, 2012.
Mr. Johnson had lived in Ocala for over 22 years, moving here from Winter Haven, Florida. He retired after 30 years in the ornamental horticulture industry. He was an active member of First United Methodist Church of Ocala; a member of Masonic Marion-Dunn Lodge No. 19; Scottish Rite, Ocala Shrine Club and Ocala Elk Lodge No. 286. Mr. Johnson served his country in the U.S. Navy as a Petty Officer. He had a positive outlook on life and a smile on his face. He was always surrounded by friends and enjoyed the activities of the Ocala Palms Singles Group. He loved golf and taught his children and wife to play.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Johnson and later his best friend and partner, Helen Price.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Melinda and Rob deViere, Lake Mary, Florida; son and daughter-in-law, Randy Johnson and Dalena Tran, Springfield, Virginia; two granddaughters, Ashley and Michelle deViere, Lake Mary, Florida; two sisters, Helen Sigmon, Inez Edwards, both of Virginia; several nieces and nephews; Stacey and Bob Poncelow and their children, Cassie and Nick. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, November 17, 2012 at First United Methodist Church of Ocala with Dr. John Few officiating. A reception will follow in the Fellowship Hall. Arrangements by Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, 910 SE Silver Springs Blvd., Ocala, Florida.
