Ocklawaha - William E. Hartman, 93, of Ocklawaha entered into heaven on July 12, 2013.
He was born February 5, 1920 to William R. Hartman and Bernice F. Suffecol in Osborne, KA. As a young child he spent many years on the farm. He spent four years at Kansas State where he graduated with a degree as a landscape architect. After graduating from college, he joined the Army where he served in the Signal Corp. during World War II in the Philippines. After getting back from WWII he moved to Florida with his family to get away from the cold winters in Kansas. After arriving in Florida he spent many years working for the US Forest Service and then with Standard Oil until retirement.
He was a very avid fisherman and especially enjoyed going to the Gulf of Mexico for any type of fish. He was very active and a deacon in Ocklawaha Bridge Baptist Church for many years.
He is preceded in death by his first wife Violet and his second wife Thelma and his brother John and sister Edna Warner. He is survived by his daughters Bonnie Hallman and Edna Driscoll. He also has 3 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren, and one oldest sister, Fairy McKune, who is 96. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 AM at Ocklawaha Bridge Baptist Church with a service at starting at 11 AM Tuesday, July 16th at Ocklawaha Bridge Baptist Church with a burial to follow. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Hospice of Marion County.
