Derrick Brooks Obituary
Ocala - Derrick E. Brooks, 82 of Ocala, Florida went to be with the Lord on March 28, 2010 under the loving care of family and staff of Marion House Rehabilitation Center. Born on July 17, 1927 in Mandeville, Manchester, Jamaica West Indies to Lester and Ruby Brooks. Derrick was an accomplished auto mechanic who was a master of his trade, and was also an avid fisherman and hunter. Derrick moved to New York City after getting married and worked as a mechanic for National Transportation while selling Electrolux Vacuum cleaners at night. He left National Motors and took another job at Cerlin Motors, shortly afterward he was offered a job at Empire Chevrolet in Brooklyn, New York where he retired after 27 years and moved to Ocala, Florida. With more than 30 years in the field he received many outstanding awards and certifications from General Motors and Ford respectively. Derrick is survived by his wife of 54 years: Lisa and son's Allan Charles Brooks and wife Lilieth Annette of Belleview, FL., and David Evelyn Brooks and wife Lisa Ann of Ocala, Florida. Granddaughter Danielle, Grandsons William, Nicholas and Anthony. Funeral Services will be on Thursday, April 1, 2010 at 10:00AM at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Ocala, FL. With Burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, Ocala, FL. Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 1, 2010 from 9:00AM till the hour of service at Forest Lawn Funeral Home.

I was married to Uncle Derrick's nephew who passed away Aug. 1, 2019.
Uncle Derrick was very kind to us over the years and he even came from NY for our wedding.
May he continue to rest in peace.
