Seymour, TN - David Scott Gideons, passed away on Tuesday, May 22, 2012. He was a native of Hollywood, FL and moved to Ocala when he was five years old and lived here until 1998 before moving to Tennessee. He was Southern Baptist and was an assistant store manager for Food City in Seymour. He served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during Desert Storm. He enjoyed playing golf, fishing, working-out at the gym and being with his children. He is survived by his children, Chloe Elise and Matthew David Gideons of Sevierville, TN; his mother, Virginia Faw of Ocklawaha; his father, George Thomas "Tommy" Gideons of Leesburg; his sister, Shannon (Timmy) Johnsen of Salt Springs; his brother, Derek Faw of Palatka; his nieces, Payton Faith and Jordan Taylor of Salt Springs and his uncles, Donald (Gail) Smith of Tallahassee and Tommy (Cindy) Smith of Ocala; and his companion and caregiver, Jo Dee Shutz of Seymour. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, A.D. and Kate Aline Smith; his aunt, Sharon Smith; and his paternal grandparents, George Freeman and Myrell Gideons. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at 4 p.m. at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, 910 E. Silver Springs Blvd., Ocala with Rev. Samuel W. Clements officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Park.
