WHITE, THOMAS ANTHONY
Ocala - Thomas Anthony White peacefully went home to be with the Lord after a short illness on Friday, January 24, 2014.
He was born in Savannah, GA on June 26, 1941. He attended Cathedral Day School and then graduated from Benedictine Military High School in 1960. He was employed in Savannah as a plant engineer at Hunt-Wesson Foods until 1968 when he then began his 35 year career with St. Joseph's Hospital. His work at the hospital began in the engineering department where he advanced to the Director of Engineering before his retirement in December 2003. After his retirement, he lived in Richmond Hill, GA before moving to Ocala, FL in 2007.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William F. White, Jr. and Mary Lales White; and his brother, Edward F. White. He is survived by his loving wife of 19 years, Joyce C. White; his daughter Marsha W. (Fleming) Free; stepdaughter Donna (Peter) Nash; stepson Rob (Karina) D'Andrea; brother William J. (Odette) White; grandchildren, Sara Free, Kyle, Alison, Jared, Ryan, and Katelynn Nash, Alisa, Diana, and Karen D'Andrea; and several nieces and nephews.
He was a communicant of Grandview Church in Dunnellon, FL. He enjoyed working in his yard, amateur bird watching, and traveling with his wife and friends.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, February 1, 2014 at Grandview Church 12401 SW Highway 484 in Dunnellon, FL at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Legacy House, Hospice of Marion County, 9505 SW 110th Street, Ocala, FL 34481.
