THOMAS, BEVERLY K., 70
Ocala - Beverly K. Thomas, 70, of Ocala, FL passed away peacefully at Shands Medical Center in Gainesville, FL on Thursday, May 1, 2014. She was the wife of Phillip T. Thomas for 35 years. Beverly was born in Morgantown, WV in 1943 and was the daughter of James Harry Gaston and Ethel Dorsey Dent, both deceased.
She is survived by her children Mara (Jack) Harrington of Fairfax, VA; Herbert "Klaus" (Lisa) Heesch of New York, NY; Traci (Robbie) Orme of Ocala, FL; and Catherine (Rick) Balius of Ocala, FL. Known by her six grandchildren as "Noni", she cherished spending time with each of them: Jeremiah Harrington 19; Finley Heesch 8; Jessica George 27; Hayleigh Orme 22; Austin Orme 16 and Erin Balius 6.
Beverly lead life to the fullest enjoying family, friends and her grandchildren. After leaving Marion County Schools, FDLRS grant program, she went onto the heart transplant list at Shands Medical Center, University of Florida. In 2007, Beverly became a heart transplant recipient and celebrated the renewal of life every day and appreciation for the Organ Donation Program. She had the opportunity to travel internationally with her husband, Phillip and had plans to travel to within the United States. For those who knew Beverly they appreciated her gift of talking and love of meeting new people. Her greatest past-time was shopping. Bev has blessed us all in many ways, but mostly with her smiles and love and joy of living.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 3rd at 4:00pm at Roberts Funeral Homes at 606 SW 2nd Avenue, Ocala, FL 34471. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the . Expressions of sympathy can be made online at:
