Ocala - Jodi Szymanski, 88 years, of Ocala, FL, passed away on Saturday, June 28, 2014.
She was born on May 25, 1926 in Tuscola, Illinois. Jodi had a varied career as an agent with State Farm Insurance and was also a pharmaceutical representative.
She was married to her late husband Raymond Szymanski for 27 years, as he passed away in 2004. Together they lived in Ft. Lauderdale and in the Hills of Ocala before moving to On Top Of The World, Ocala in 2000.
Jodi was a champion of animal welfare and could always be counted on to help any animal in need. She was past President of the SPCA of Marion County for many years and a volunteer at the Humane Society. At the time of her death, she was comforted not only by Randy and Heather, but also by her best friend and companion - a little black Chihuahua named Coco.
Jodi was also predeceased by one son, Donald Detmer, who was killed in Viet Nam in 1968. She is survived by her son Randy Detmer of Birmingham, AL; her granddaughter Heather Hall of Raeford, N. Carolina; and her great granddaughter Jodi Manetti of Plainsfield, IL.
