Ocala - Deacon Henry C. Norman was born on April 20, 1926 in Shady Grove, Florida. Third child born to the late Herbert and Mary Wise Norman.
He attended public school in Marion County. Deacon Norman served for 22 years in the United States Navy. Deacon Norman was an active member of the New Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church where he served in various capacities. A member of the Senior Choir and for a brief time served as president of the Senior Choir. He served as custodian, groundskeeper, Deacon, Trustee and Father Board. He served until his health declined.
Memories of his life will be cherished by his children: Sandra L Grimes (Reginald), Sharon Rena Thomas (Clarence) and Henry C. Norman Jr. (Pearl).; two godchildren, Romeo Kinsler (Rosalind) and Gertie Washington (Lawrence); eleven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two devoted nephews; a devoted niece; one sister-in-law; three brother-in-laws; and a host of relatives and sorrowing friends.
Visitation for Deacon Norman will be held on Friday August 1, 2014 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Summers Funeral Home. Wake Service will be held New Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, August 2, 2014 at 1:00 p.m., at New Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 9225 S.W. 27th Avenue Ocala, Florida 34476. Internment New Shady Grove Memorial Garden, Shady Grove, Florida.
