Ocala - Harold D. Peebles, 88, went home to be with the Lord Thursday, August 7, 2014. He was a WWII veteran serving in the Navy from 1944 to 1948. He was a native and lifelong resident of Marion County. He worked for 28 years for the US Forestry Service. He loved being outdoors, hunting, fishing, agriculture, and was a very devoted family man. He will be greatly missed by all.
He is survived by his daughters, Ginny McCallum and Lynn Lambert (Fred); nine grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; a sister and brother, numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded by his wife, Charlotte; his parents, James Robert Peebles, Sr. and Mary Elinor Cox Peebles; five brothers and six sisters.
A visitation will be held at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, 910 E. Silver Springs Blvd., Ocala, FL on Saturday, August 9, 2014 from 5-7 PM. A funeral ceremony will be held at Ocklawaha Bridge Baptist Church, 14100 NE Hwy 40, Silver Springs, FL on Sunday, August 10, 2014 at 2PM with interment to follow.
