JAMES NULTY Obituary
Ocala -James Mark Nulty, the Star-Banner's digital project manager who also made a name for himself as a gifted wrestling announcer, died peacefully February 10, 2016 at his home after a long bout with cancer. He was 55.
Born in Dover, Delaware, Nulty moved to Ocala in 2005.
At the newspaper office, Nulty was known for his sales prowess, as well as one-liners intended to inspire and crack up his colleagues. He worked for the Star-Banner for 10 years.
He adored his wife, Erin, and their son, Evan Christian. He also loved spending time with his niece, Olivia.
He adored professional wrestling and found himself calling the action and interviewing agitated wrestlers many times throughout his life. He started the successful website www.wrestlingclassics.com and served as moderator for 16 years. He turned his passion for wrestling into a busy moonlighting gig that also included promoting, booking talent and serving as a referee.
He was a host of the Texas All Star Wrestling Championship, provided commentary for the 'Ring of Honor' DVD series and once worked for World Class Championship Wrestling.
Once in Ocala, he got to work with one of his favorite wrestlers, Dory Funk Jr., who operates a wrestling academy here. He became a regular and quick-witted fixture during matches at the Dory Funk Arena. In an emotional ceremony, Funk presented Nulty with the Fighting Heart Award shortly after he was diagnosed.
Nulty also was guest announcer for Forest High School's state championship girls softball team. He was a sports reporter for Wichita Falls Times Record, as well as a sales manager for various TV and radio stations.
His hobbies included fantasy football and poker. He also loved the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Longhorns.
Nulty is survived by his wife, Erin Kiser Nulty; his son, Evan Christian; brothers, James McDonnal and John McDonnal; sister, Cheryl Nulty; in- laws, Dennis and Theresa Kiser; sister-in-law, Michelle Kiser and her daughter, Olivia; sister-in-law, Tracy Kiser Keeler, her husband, Eddie, and their daughter, Hope.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard Nulty and Alice Ruth Nelson; and brother, Lawrence Nulty.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Saturday at Roberts Funeral Home, East Chapel, 2739 SE Maricamp Road, Ocala. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday at Church of Hope, 3233 SE Maricamp Road, Ocala. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to be made in the name of Evan Nulty at Gateway Bank.

So sad to hear of Mark's passing. I've known Mark for probably 20 years or so from being involved in the wrestling business. He was a really great guy and had a knowledge of the business and the history of professional wrestling that only a few could claim. Rest in peace, my brother, you'll be greatly missed.
