Gainesville - Mr. Cedric Ferguson, a.k.a. "Big Oaks", 55, was born in Gainesville, Florida to Mrs. Dorothy Ferguson and Mr. Amos Carter Sr. (deceased) and raised with his mother and stepfather Mr. Aubrey "Stokey" McPhadden. Mr. Ferguson graduated from Gainesville High School c/o 1974. He attended college at Santa Fe Community College from 1974 to 1976. He was employed at First Presbyterian Church for 34 years and University Lutheran Church. Mr. Ferguson rendered volunteer services as a coach for the City of Gainesville "Baby Gator" Pop Warner League and as a cook for the Annual Clinton Portis Community Day Picnic and Annual Lake Road Reunion. Mr. Ferguson was a devoted and loving: son, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, friend and employee. Mr. Ferguson's father Amos Carter Sr. preceded him in death. He leaves to cherish his memories, parents: his mother and stepfather Dorothy and Aubrey McPhadden; children: Eronya Ferguson, Cedric Ferguson, Jr. and Cordera Ferguson, Adrian Ferguson, Shenina (Antonio) Littles and Mesha (Timothy) Williams, Larry Richardson and Lashanda (Alphonso) Rawls all of Gainesville, FL; brothers: Clyde Ferguson, Cleve (Ruthie) Ferguson, Amos (Joanne) Carter, Jr., Ronnie (Patricia) Carter; Cyril Ferguson, Joseph Carter; Michael (Connie) McCray, Eric (Virginia) Middleton, and Kenneth Carter all of Gainesville, FL; sisters: Deloris Johnson, Cynthia (Carl) Davis of Gainesville, FL; Linda Epps of Rex, GA, Wanda Carter, Gainesville, FL; Cynthia (George) Ferguson-Miles, Kim (Starling) Ferguson-Johnson of Gainesville, FL; Alfreda Carter, McDough, GA; Sheila Ferguson, Sharon Ferguson, Theretha Carter, Patricia Carter, Samantha Carter all of Gainesville, FL.; eighteen grandchildren: Rajean Ferguson, Raymond Adams, Marquez Adams, Malik Adams, Lilanti Adams, Laporsha Jones, Kearea Gainey, Brishon Proctor, Timothy Williams Jr., Tyree Williams, Quantum Robinson, Alexis Littles, Caylen Ferguson, Caylee Ferguson, Triston Ferguson, Jonathan Leroy, Dakota Richardson and Beyonce' Richardson as well as a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; lifelong friend: David Brown; devoted friend: Letisha "Quan" Nettles and special uncle: Alphonso Ferguson. Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 20, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 106 SW 3rd Street in Gainesville, FL. Visitation will be held Friday, August 19, 2011 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church.
