Ocala - Ronald J. Thompson, 83, of Ocala, Florida died unexpectedly at his home on February 1, 2013.
Born on November 16, 1929 to the late Nelson and Meta (Fathauer) Thompson and raised in Cleveland Ohio. After graduating from Valtaraiso University, Ron served in the United States Air Force during the Korean conflict. He then worked for the Ohio Bell telephone company until retirement and subsequent relocation to Florida. Ron's two main interests after moving to Ocala were golf and his church. He thoroughly enjoyed playing golf (albeit not always the results) with his friends at the courses at On Top Of the World. He was also a dedicated Christian, tireless worker, and a respected and beloved leader at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Ocala.
He is survived by his brother Norman (Muriel - "Debbie") Thompson. Niece and Nephew Sally Thompson Hennessey (Patrick). Philip Thompson (Liz) and friend Mary Ellen Thompson.
A memorial service will be held on February 12, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church at 5200 SW Rte. 200 in Ocala, Florida.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church.
