ROSEMETA FREDERICK, 81
Orange Springs, FL - Vivian Rosemeta Frederick Piantanida, 81, died January 29, 2013 at Hospice Legacy House, Ocala, FL. She was born July 16, 1931 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. She was predeceased by her parents, Ernest L. Frederick and Lily Florence Dever Frederick.
Vivian graduated in 1953 from the Mack Training School for Nurses, St. Catharines, Ontario.
After graduation, she traveled from Canada to Bermuda with friends to start her nursing career. Bermuda was where she met her first husband Trevor and started a family. From there her career continued in Florida and North Carolina, where she met her second husband Ray. They sailed a year on their boat, The Ravian.
Upon retirement, they moved to Orange Springs, to be close to family. Vivian loved spending time with friends and family. She enjoyed gardening, sunshine, the outdoors and travel, especially to Italy. Vivian was an avid reader, enjoyed writing, embroidery and the arts. She was very active in her community, church and prison ministry.
She is survived by husband Ray Piantanida, Sr., Orange Springs, FL.; daughters, Dawn Critchley, Gainesville, FL., Sharon Critchley, Sorrento, FL., Marilyn P. (L.S.) Turner, Perry, FL.; sons, Ray Jr. (Merilin) Piantanida, Florahome, FL., and Bob (Alison) Piantanida, Tyler, Texas; eleven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren and her cat, Herbie. Our lives were truly blessed by her love and her radiant smile.
Vivian's life will be celebrated on Saturday, March 2, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Citra First United Methodist Church. Memorial contributions may be made to her church, Salvation Army or Hospice Legacy House in Ocala.
