Ocala - Roy R. Garrett, age 88, passed away on Thursday, March 21, 2013 in Ocala, Florida.
Born May 24, 1924 in Dickson, Tennessee, he had been a Florida resident since 1961. He was a jeweler/watch maker and was owner/operator of Garrett Jewelers in Ocala for many years.
He served in the Army/Air Corps during World War II. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing string instruments also.
Roy is survived by his wife of 63 years, Jane L. Garrett; daughter, Susan (Gary) Powell; and son, James Garrett, all of Ocala, Florida; sister, Julie Hooper of Joelton, Tennessee and grandchildren Erin Powell, Brandon Powell, Amanda Calabretta, Kristen Calabretta and Emily Calabretta. He is predeceased by his daughter, Sandra Calabretta, two sisters and six brothers.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, March 25 at 4 p.m. at Ft. King Presbyterian Church with Reverend Andy Gans and Reverend Ron Balzer officiating. In lieu of flowers, family request donations to Ft. King Presbyterian Church or Alzheimer's Support, Inc., P O Box 6793, Ocala, FL 34478-6793.
