Ocala - Roy August Foos, 89, Ocala, passed away at Legacy House on Sunday, June 23, 2013.
Roy was born on February 6, 1924 in Rochester, NY, child to the late August F and Lillian M. (Geck) Foos. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran serving in WWII, a Catholic and a lifetime member of the Pasadena California Elk's Club. Roy worked at Eastman Kodak and Geck Plumbing in Rochester, NY until he moved to California in l957. He spent 32 years with Impact Sales as an account sales manager. "He was a born salesman." After retirement, Roy and Lolly moved to Ocala and settled in at On Top of the World in 1997. Roy enjoyed swimming, Bingo, bocce ball, billiards and many board games. He volunteered within the community at various functions and had a quick wit that made people smile and laugh.
He was also preceded in death by his son Thomas Roy Foos, brother Charles Foos and great grandson Nolan Foos.
Roy is survived by his wife of 45 years Laurel "Lolly" Foos, sister Alice Norman, nephews Dr. David Foos and James Foos; grandchildren Gregory Foos and Kathy Atten, beloved sister-in-law Toba Hackett and brother-in-law Joseph Hackett; 3 godchildren, Samantha Nicole Cook, Joseph Henry Hackett II and Wade August Hackett; 5 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held in the TimberRidge Chapel of Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, Ocala, on Saturday, June 29th from 2:00PM to 4:00PM, at which time the Memorial Service will take place. Memorial contributions may be made to a .
