Fayetteville, GA - Mary Lois Raye Milner, 87, of Ocala, passed away on Thursday, August 29, 2013, under Hospice Care in Fayetteville, GA. Mary was born in Largo FL on August 31, 1925. Raised in Central Florida, she graduated from Deland High School in Deland, FL, and on October 21, 1944, married the love of her life, Ralph Eugene Milner in Tucson, AZ. She got her degree in Music Education while her children were in high school, and her Masters degree in Library Science while they were in college. After retiring as a Tennessee public school teacher, she and Ralph moved to Ocala in 1990. They were active at First United Methodist Church, where Mary nurtured her great love of books for many years as the Librarian for the Children's Library; and an equally great love for music in the Bells Choir, the Chancel Choir, and as interim organist and Music Director.
She is survived by two sons, David (Gwen) Milner of Fayetteville, GA, and Robert Milner of Spanish Lake, MO; two granddaughters, Aimee (William) Allison of Clarksville, TN, and Angela Odom of New Orleans, LA; and two great grandchildren, Austin and Emma Allison.
She was predeceased by Ralph, her husband of 63 years; and by her two daughters, Brenda Milner of Ocala and Barbara Milner Odom of Birmingham, AL.
Visitation and services are to be held on Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at First United Methodist Church- 1126 E. Silver Springs Blvd., Ocala, FL 34470. Visitation will start at 10:00 AM with services following at 11:00 AM. Interment is to follow at Highland Memorial Park. Arrangements are in the care of Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, 910 E. Silver Springs Blvd., Ocala, FL 34470. Donations may be made to Foundation; or Ocala First Preschool, Ocala First United Methodist Church.
