Ocala - Robert "Bob" D. Monteath, 68, of Ocala, passed away on September 23, 2013 at Hospice of Marion County's Sylvia's House.
He was born in Asheville, NC on August 17, 1945. Before becoming a long-time resident of Ocala, he served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Ocala Shrine Club, enjoyed playing the guitar and saxophone, and listening to jazz and blues music. His colleagues at Hughes Supply Plumbing, where he worked for 18 years, often described him as a caring, service-oriented man with a huge heart.
Robert is survived by his loving wife Danni Monteath; daughter Kimber Corbitt, son-in-law Tim Corbitt; his beloved four-legged Sara, and many friends he also considered family.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Robert on Friday, October 4, 2013 at 1pm at Hughes Supply, 700 SW 38th Ave., Ocala, FL, 34474. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made in Robert's memory to Shriners Hospitals for Children, 12502 USF Pine Dr., Tampa, FL 33612 or contact (813) 972-2250 ext. 7217.
