BRYANT, JOYCE M., 70
Ocala - Joyce M. Bryant, 70, of Ocala passed away on December 28, 2013.
Joy was born in Middlefield, Ohio on June 23, 1943 to the late Robert and Evelyn Kistler. Joy graduated from Braceville High School in Braceville, Ohio in 1961. During her career, she proudly served in the Army Reserves as a Military Policeman, Ocala Police Department as a Police Officer, Ocala Tire Service as an office manager for over 15 years and retired from Advanced Disposal as an office manager after having worked there 20 years. While employed at Ocala Police Department, she received a Medal of Valor for rescuing two people from a burning residence. As a young girl, she thoroughly enjoyed riding and caring for horses. Joy enjoyed spending time with her family, reading detective novels, shopping and relaxing poolside. She was best known for her compassionate nature and vibrant personality.
Joy was preceded in death by her loving husband, John. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Frances Kaster and brother, John Kistler.
She is survived by her daughter, Pamela (Terry) Bovaird; her son Scott (Julia) Hardway; a brother, Robert Kistler, Jr.; three grandchildren, Brittany (Aaron) Fiehn, Scottie Hardway, Kaylee Bovaird and one great-grandchild Laura Lynn Fiehn.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
