EDWARD CAREY Obituary



CAREY, EDWARD FRANCIS
Edward Francis 'Ed' Carey, of Ocala, 921/2 years old, joined his wife, Mary, in heaven on Monday, September 8, 2014.
Ed was born on April 8, 1922 in Brooklyn, New York; one of eleven siblings born to the late Joseph and Eleanor (Jackson) Carey. He grew up in Brooklyn and in 1942 he joined the U.S. Army; serving his country during World War II as a medic. His career was that of a medical attendant until becoming a licensed practical nurse in 1970. He moved to Ocala in 1987 from Long Island, NY. Ed led a very active life while living in the Oak Run Community. Ed was known for his great sense of humor and charismatic personality.
He was also preceded in death by six of his siblings and two granddaughters. Ed is survived by his daughters; Pat Innes, Maureen Giglio, Diane Teska and Jean McKeever; 9 grandchildren; 16 great-randchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Marion Ewald, Richard Carey, Barbara Laneville and Brennan Carey.
A Celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2014 at 2:00PM in the TimberRidge Chapel of Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, 9695 SW 110th St., Ocala. Services with full military honors will be held at the Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL on Monday, October 13, 2014 at 10:00 AM.
