CASSE, NORMAN E., 79
Ocala - Mr. Norman E. Casse was born on August 24, 1936 in Indianapolis, Indiana. His parents were Al and Helen Casse. Norman graduated from the University of Indiana in June 1959 with a Bachelors of Science in Business Administration. In 1960, he married Joan Peters of Gary, Indiana and they had two sons, Mark and John. After living in Indianapolis they moved to the Ocala area in February of 1967 and purchased a thoroughbred horse farm in North Marion County. In 1974, Mr. Casse was one of the original cofounders of the Ocala Breeders Sales Company. In 1977, Norman remarried to Linda Rodak Crawford and they had a son, Justin E. Casse, who is thoroughly involved in the Equine consigning bloodstock industry. They annually produce fireworks for the University of Florida Gators, the New York Yankees Spring Training, FAFO's, Symphony Under the Stars, Live Oak Plantation Anniversary celebrations and many others throughout the states and country. Mr. Casse was a member of the US Navy Reserves and was honorably discharged in the spring of 1962.
There will be a memorial service held on Sunday March 13, 2016 at 6PM at the Ocala Breeders Sales Company.

So sorry for your loss. Norman loved everything about the horse business. He did me a favor more than 40 years ago that I have never forgotten. My dad and I were up at Saratoga and although I had not planned on buying a horse, one came to my attention and I made the deal. Then at the last minute the man would not take a check, but wanted cash. I ran into Norman at the races and during conversation the topic came up about Alfred G. Vanderbilt only wanting cash for his horse, and Norman said he had just had a filly claimed and had not done anything with the money yet. He took my check for the $15,000 and transferred the cash over so we could get the horse and make the van out of town the next day. This was in the day when movement of money took time. Norman knew me from the sales and the track, but that was it. A very generous gesture from a good man and we had been friends ever since.

It was my privilege to be able to share for 24 years the beautiful farm that your father built ...Cardinal training center.
Norman was instrumental in creating the horse racing industry and it was truly my honor to be part of that and to have known Norman
