Leon F. Wychesit, Sr.

Leon Felix Wychesit, Sr., age 75 of Gillett, passed away Monday, May 20, 2013 as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Born on April 10, 1938 in Keshena, he was the son of Henry and Philanema (Sheshequon) Wychesit. In his younger years, Leon worked as a union truck driver in Chicago before returning to this area. In 2006 he married Tina Schmidt in Gillett. Leon loved spending time with his family and friends as well as fishing, picking berries, camping and coaching his brother in boxing. He was a member of the ST. Michael's Catholic Church in Keshena.

Leon is survived by: his wife, Tina; 6 children, Angie Wychesit of Chicago, Bernadine (Ken) Freeman of MO, Leon (Terry) Wychesit, Jr., of Gillett, Loren Wychesit of MO, Josh Elliot of Gillett, Heather Wychesit of SD; 3 stepchildren, Angela Shepherd of Shawano, Ashley (Can) Swim of Gillett, Alisha Murdock of Gillett; his special friend and buddy, Connor Shepherd; and 6 siblings, Henry Wychesit, Jr., Warren (Sue) Thunder, Vaughn Thunder, Walker Thunder, Gerhard (Rogerine) Wychesit, and Twila (Clayton ) Neconish.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, May 23, 2013 at the St. Michael's Catholic Church in Keshena with the Rev. David McElroy O.Praem officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Daniel Wychesit residence located at W2848 Morrin Lane, Keshena from 4:00pm on Wednesday until the procession leaves for the church on Thursday. Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano is assisting the family with the arrangements.
