Elin Ann Nerenhausen, 70, of Oconto, went to heaven peacefully on March 19, 2013. Elin was born Dec. 25, 1942, in Oconto, to the late William "Muff" and Leona "Belgian" (Thome) McCartney. Elin married Peter Nerenhausen on June 16, 1962. Elin was a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend who put the needs of others before her own. She was much loved and will be greatly missed by friends and family. She shared her endless love through her famous Belgian biscuit dinners, Thanksgiving get togethers, her hand knitted mittens, joy for cooking, bowling, playing cards. Her most joyful moments were visiting with family. Elin worked for Bond Pickle Co, Oconto, for 25 years.
Elin will be missed by son, Daniel (Bonnie) Nerenhausen; daughters, Linda (Michael) Carnahan, Amy (Tom) White, Cindy (Phillip) Nerenhausen; 11 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; brothers, Bill, Randy, Patrick, Larry McCartney, Richard (Cheryl) McCartney; sisters, Janice White, Penny (Jim) Juza, Sandy Kilcrease, Diana Kain, JoAnn (Louie) Runge. Elin went to heaven to join her parents; son, Joseph Nerenhausen; brothers, Harold "Punk" Smith, Ted McCartney, Robert McCartney; great-granddaughter, Danielle Wilke; father and mother-in-law, Jake and Mable Nerenhausen; and other loving relatives.
The family received relatives and friends at the Gallagher Funeral Home, Oconto, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, March 23, 2013. Funeral services were conducted 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Peter Dorn officiating. Online condolences may be expressed at www.gallagherfuneralhome.net.
