Milton George "Milt" Ashline(1926 - 2012)

WATERLOO - Milton "Milt" Ashline, 86, of Waterloo, formerly of Littleport and Oelwein, died at Parkview Nursing & Rehab Center Sunday, Oct. 21, 2012.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 25, at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Waterloo. A 2 p.m. graveside service will be conducted at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, rural Oelwein, with military rites by Oelwein American Legion Ross Reid Post 9 Honor Guard.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Locke Funeral Home, 1519 W. Fourth St., in Waterloo, and after 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the church.
Memorials may be made in his name to Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Milton George Ashline was born July 9, 1926 in Edgewood, Iowa, son of Elmer and Esther Johnson Ashline. Milt married Evelyn Dora Ihde Oct. 20, 1948 in Littleport; she died Sept. 19, 1974. He married Evalyn Weltzin Jurgens on Sept. 19, 1987 at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Waterloo.
He graduated from Littleport High School in 1944. Milt worked for Pust Garage, served as City Clerk and as Fire Chief in Littleport. In 1966, he began working at John Deere as a forklift driver and later tool crib attendant retiring in 1987. He has served in the U.S. Navy from 1944 to 1946. Milt was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church and a member of American Legion Ross Reid Post #9 in Oelwein.
His survivors include wife Evalyn of Waterloo; three sons, Keith (Sandy) Ashline of Littleport, Eric (Shelly) Ashline of Black Creek, Wis., and Kent (Karla) Ashline of Guttenberg; a daughter Ranee (Dave Poock) Galleger of Sumner; daughter-in-law Jessica Ashline of Littleport; stepdaughter Pam (Dean) Miller of Des Moines; nine grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and his sister Myrna DeSotel of Volga.
Milt is preceded in death by his son Kevin Ashline.
