MASONVILLE - Norbert J. Goedken, 85, entered into eternal rest Saturday, March 8, 2014 at home with his family around him.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 11, at I.C. Catholic Church in Masonville with the Rev. Richard Gaul officiating. Interment with military rites by Lamont American Legion will be in St. Albert's Cemetery at Lamont.
Family will greet friends from 3 to 7 p.m. Monday, March 10 at the Fawcett Funeral Home in Lamont located in the United Methodist Church, 745 Washington St., and after 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at the I.C. Catholic Church in Masonville.

Norbert Joseph Goedken was born March 20, 1928 at Worthington, Iowa, the son of Henry and Caroline Crubel Goedken.
Norbert was united in marriage to Julita Lentz on March 28, 1951 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Lamont. To this union were born 4 children: Gary, David, Charles, and Cheryl. They farmed in the Lamont-Masonville area all their married lives.
Norbert served his country during the Korean Conflict with the U.S. Army from 1951 until his honorable discharge in 1953.
Norbert was always a steward of land conservation, loved farming, working in his yard, a loyal member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Lamont and then I.C. Catholic Church in Masonville; spending time with his family, Square Dancing and playing cards with his wife Julita.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his son David; sister Isabel Taylor; and brothers, Arthur, Linus, Elmer and Lester Goedken.
His survivors include his wife of 63 years, Julita; 2 sons, Gary (Nancy) Goedken of Arlington, and Charles (Jane) Goedken of Urbandale; his daughter Cheryl (Jeffrey) Cottingham of Ellsworth; grandchildren, Natalie (Kevin) Perry, David (Kristin) Goedken, Shawn Goedken, Cody Goedken, Kyle (Alisha) Cottingham, Jeremy Cottingham, and Christian Cottingham; great grandson Landon Perry; brother Merlin (Lucille) Goedken of Oelwein, and other family and friends.
