Dwayne Suckow Obituary

OELWEIN - Dwayne M. Suckow, 80, of Oelwein and formerly of Fairbank, died Saturday, Oct. 16, 2010, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids from diabetes and a heart condition.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 20, at Woods Funeral Home in Fairbank, with burial in Fairbank Cemetery.
Friends may call 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday and after 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Dwayne Merle Suckow was born July 29, 1930, at Waukon, Iowa, the son of Richard Peter Robert and Mabel (Mohs) Suckow. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1951 to 1953. Dwayne married Beverly Jean Schierholz and the later divorced. He married Judy Krueger on Sept. 9, 1989 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. Dwayne and Judy had owned and operated D & J's Restaurant in Fairbank for 20 years before he retired. Prior to that he owned and operated Heritage House in Tripoli, Mozy Inn in North Washington and the 312 Club in McIntire.
Survivors include his wife Judy of Oelwein; one daughter Peggi Suckow of Fairbank; one son, Dennis Suckow of Hudson; a stepdaughter, Susan (Travis) Larson of Jesup; two grandchildren and two step-grandchildren; one brother Delbert Suckow and special friend Dorla of Postville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Harold Mohs and Willis Suckow, and three sisters, Velma Miner, Verda Mae Schnuelle and LaVonda Thorton.
