FAYETTE - Lowell "Mike" Voshell, 62, passed away Sunday, Jan. 15, 2012 at his home.

Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 18, at St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Fayette. Private family inurnment will be held at a later date. Military funeral honors will be conducted by the American Legion post 339 of Fayette.

Lowel "Mike" Voshell, the son of Paul and Ethel (Neumann) Voshell was born on Nov. 1, 1949, in Oelwein, Iowa. After graduating from Fayette High School, Mike enlisted in the United States Army and served his country in Vietnam. Mike was united in marriage on Oct. 12, 1974 to Theresa Smith. In 1976, Mike opened Voshell's Service Station in Fayette.
He has been a member of the American Legion Post 339. Mike has served as a Fayette firefighter since 1975, and has been the chief since 1984.
Mike is survived by his wife of 37 years, Theresa; two daughters, Allison Voshell of Des Moines, and Josie Voshell of Fayette; two brothers, Duane (Carolyn) Voshell of Cedar Rapids, and Gary (Barb) Voshell of Peoria, AZ; an aunt, Hazel (Bud) Jensen of West Union; two nieces, Valerie (Dominic) Griegerich and their children Collin and Halie of Anita, and Anita (Josh) Davis of Kennesaw, GA; and several cousins and in-laws. He is preceded in death by his parents.
