Carroll Edgar "Ed" Ferguson, Jr.
Carroll Edgar "Ed" Ferguson, Jr., age 88, passed away Thursday, April 10, 2014 in Medina.
He was born July 8, 1925 in Weehawken, N.J. to the late Carroll Edgar and Liley Field (Stafford) Ferguson. Ed worked as a research chemist for PPG Industries for almost 30 years, retiring in 1983. He was an adjunct professor for Kent State University, an avid Edsel fan and HO Train collector, and enjoyed playing golf. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Army during World War II and was the recipient of the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. Ed was an active 32nd Degree Mason and a member of Masonic organizations throughout the country. Most notably he was a 50+ year member and past Master of Seville Lodge and past presiding officer of the Medina Commandery, Royal Arch Masons and Royal Select Masons. For his accomplishment, Ed was the esteemed recipient of the Knight York Cross of Honor.
Ed was the loving father of Pamela (Eric) Silkowski of Hudson, N.Y., Richard Ferguson of Medina and Michael (Renee) Ferguson of Temecula, Calif.; dear grandfather of Cheryl, Amy, Kristen, Matthew and Andrew; great-grandfather of Liley; and dearest brother of Mary Claudia Ashelman.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Priscilla (Cambern), to whom he was married 56 years, and daughter, Linda Ferguson.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, April 13, at 2 p.m. at the Western Reserve Masonic Community, 4931 Nettleton Road, Medina 44256. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Private burial will be held at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, Ohio. Contributions, in lieu of flowers, may be made to Western Reserve Masonic Community at the address above.
