Grover William Miller
Grover William Miller, age 83, of Peninsula, Ohio, died Tuesday, September 17, 2013.
He was the beloved husband of Nancy (nee Kiser); beloved father of Judith Doyle, Karen (William) Ahl, Daniel Miller, Guy Miller, James Miller, Lisa (Michael) Marshall and Lori (Jeff) Deming; loving grandfather of eight, great-grandfather of six and great-great-grandfather of one; dear brother of Geri Schmidt, Catherine Livingston, Jo Ann Mullins, Jean Arel, Dale Miller (deceased) and James Miller (deceased).
Grover served his country in the United States Navy in the Korean War from 1950-1954. He loved his family and loved his wood shop where he created works of art for his family and community which was featured in an article in the Akron Beacon Journal. He was a jack of all trades and problem-solver which led to three patents including the self contained concrete leveling truck that revolutionized the industry. He was the founder of the A-1 Concrete Leveling Company, leveling and foundation repair, the company inspired by Grover's inventions are now America's largest leveler; Quad Power Piecing System, a unique method of raising sunken foundations and his most recent invention the Buckeye Baler-Hydraulic Leaf-baler. He was a man known for his generosity and public service in the Village of Peninsula which included being a former Village Councilman, One Time Fire Board Member, as well as a Zoning Appeals Member.
He leaves many friends in the village as well as his partners at A-1 Concrete Leveling, Jim Creed and John Rasnick who were influential in his most recent decision to follow Christ as His Lord.
It is suggested by the family that memorials may be made to the Valley Fire District, 5287 Dogwood Drive, Peninsula, OH 44264-9775. Friends will be received Thursday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at JOHNSON ROMITO FUNERAL HOME, 99 WEST AURORA ROAD, (RT. 82 ONE MILE WEST OF STATE RT. 8), Northfield Center, Ohio 44067 (330-468-1443), where service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, September 20, 2013. Burial to follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peninsula, Ohio.
