Clifton White Jr. "Jr." "Sonny" Clifton White Jr. "Jr." "Sonny" was born on January 15, 1945 to the late Martha Sykes Price and Clifton White Sr. He passed away peacefully surrounded by his family and friends on April 30, 2016. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents, William and Luedell Sykes. He leaves to cherish his loving memory his wife, Shirley White; caregiver-sister, Martha Hamilton; caregiver-brother, Robert (Deb) Jackson of Akron; and brother, Willie Cunning of Columbus, Ohio.; children, Terri Warren, Mark Foster, Kizzy Davis and Clifton White III; three step children; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; aunt, Willie Mae Sykes; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and best friends, Tyrone McElroy, Herb Watson, Jerry Brown, Betty Brazil and Sherl Barrett. Friends may call on Thursday, May 5, 2016 from 11 a.m. until 12 p.m. noon at New Hope Baptist Church, 1706 S. Hawkins Ave., Akron, OH 44320 with funeral services to immediately follow. Bruce A. Dailey STOW -- Bruce A. Dailey, 93, passed away April 29, 2016. Born in Cuyahoga Falls, Bruce was a lifetime area resident, proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member of Talmadge Lutheran Church. Preceded in death by grandchildren, Kim and Steven; and sister, Barbara; Bruce is survived by his wife of 61 years, Alma Cecelia Dailey; children, Christine Mihal, David (Dawn), John (Gail); grandchildren, Terri (Jack), Tim, Michael, Ben, Shannon (Jim), John Jr.; great-grandchildren, Seth, Austin, Alli, Adam and Alexander. Friends are invited to Redmon Funeral Home for visitation, Wednesday, from 5 to 8 p.m.. Pastor Andy Alberts will conduct a funeral service Thursday at 11 a.m. at Tallmadge Lutheran Church and where friends may call from 10 a.m. until service time. Burial will follow at Stow Cemetery. Daubenspeck, June Elizabeth (Dannacher) - Sugar Land, Texas  
June Elizabeth Daubenspeck (Dannacher) June passed away April 24, 2016 in Sugar Land, Texas at the age of 89. She was born in Akron, Ohio where she grew up and spent most of her life. She was a graduate of Garfield High School, Class of 1945. After graduating, she worked as an administrator for Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. She later met her husband there, Richard H. Daubenspeck. After their marriage, she retired and became a homemaker. She enjoyed golf competitively and was also an avid bowler. June and Richard traveled extensively throughout Europe and South America for Richard's work. She also enjoyed travel with family and friends. She lived a very fulfilling life. She had a no nonsense approach to everything that she encountered and was quite capable of speaking her mind. Her philosophy in life was to enjoy every moment and make life count and have fun doing it. She leaves behind countless memories of her doing just that with her beloved friends and family. A few years after the death of her husband in 2002, she relocated to Texas to be near her family. She enjoyed many more fun travels with friends and family. She was involved with her great-great nieces and nephews. She attended school plays and sporting events and was always their biggest fan. She loved her family and she loved life. Mrs. Daubenspeck is survived by her beloved nieces and nephews, Kim, Rodger, Kristin and Steven Donaldson of Richmond, Texas, Kandace Donaldson of Sugar Land, Texas, Kathy and David Garrett of Waldorf, Md., Kara and James DeBill of Waldorf, Md., Jason Moore of Orlando, Fla., Ralph Tamper of Houston, Texas. Mrs. Daubenspeck will be laid to rest at Rose Hill Cemetery in Akron, Ohio.

Edward Garrett Edward Garrett, 72, of Akron, Ohio passed away in Akron, Ohio in the loving arms of his wife, Mary, on April 28th, 2016 after a short illness. Edward was born in Talladega, Alabama on July 12, 1943 to J.C. and Martha Garrett. Edward leaves the love of his life and wife of 31 years, Mary with great memories and a great loss. To carry on Edward's legacy, he leaves behind sons, Eric (PerShawna) Garrett, Ricky Garrett, Lamar Jones, Deshannon Jones all of Akron, Ohio, Melvin Jones of Alabama; daughters, Monique Garrett, Marie Bickley, Lawanda (Desi) McCary, Kendra Jones, Brandy Bickley all of Akron, Ohio. Edward is survived by sisters, Mary Garrett, Carolyn (Bobby) Watkins, Dorothy (Walter) Brunson; brothers, John Garrett, Larry Garrett, Willie Garrett, all of Akron, Ohio, Jerry Garrett of Atlanta, Georgia; sisters-in-law, Celia Sankey, Annie (Teddie) Haslem all of Akron, Ohio; brother-in-law, Colie Bickley of Akron, Ohio; and mother-in-law, Mary L. Bickley of Akron, Ohio. He will be missed by a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cousins and friends. Geraldine "Jerry" A. Griffis Geraldine "Jerry" A. Griffis, 99, passed away on April 29, 2016. She was born August 17, 1916 in Cardington, Ohio to the late Louis F. and Ivah M. Brunson. She resided in the Portage Lakes area for the past 75 years and enjoyed gardening, bird watching, and loved the Cleveland Indians. Jerry was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Mervin A. Griffis; daughter, Cynthia Upholzer; son, Mark Griffis; and 12 siblings. She is survived by her daughter, Sally (James) Brooker; son-in-law, Bob Upholzer, daughter-in-law, Cindy Griffis; grandchildren, Karyn (Michael) Hendricks, Jeff (Teri) Upholzer, Steven (Angel) Upholzer, Sandy (Steve) Orcutt, Holly (Jay) Reardon, Brett (Susan) Breckenridge, Mitch (Mindy) Griffis, and Neil (Deanna) Griffis; many great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. Barbara J. Harter LODI -- Barbara J. Harter, 74, of Lodi passed away April 25, 2016. She was born January 12, 1942 in Wadsworth to Frank and Margaret Harter. Barbara worked for the Westfield Insurance Company for over 37 years. She enjoyed playing golf and bowling. She was also a caregiver for her mother, Margaret, for many years. She was preceded in death by her dad, Frank Harter and brother, George Harter. She is survived by her mom, Margaret Harter; brother, Frank Harter; nieces, Lisa Mustelier and Chris Harter; and great niece, Erin Mustelier. Irene C. Horvath Irene C. Horvath, 96, of Akron, died on Monday, April 25, 2016. She was born in McCalmont, Pa. on February 22, 1920 to the late John "Curly" McAvoy and Jennie McAvoy, nee Anderson. Irene was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Wendell Horvath Jr.. She is survived by her son, D. JoAnn Bycura Hudak JoAnn (Bycura) Hudak, 95, passed away Friday, April 29, 2016. Born in Pittsburgh, Pa. She was a resident of Akron most of her life and retired from Firestone Tire and Rubber. Preceded in death by her husbands, Steven Hudak and Frank Bycura and sons, Frank and Blair Bycura. JoAnn is survived by son, Bruce (Sharon) Bycura; daughter-in-law, Mary Bycura; seven grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and sister, Jackie Ridgeway. The family would like to thank JoAnn's grandsons, David (Stacey) and Douglas for the care they gave to their grandmother.
