Gombar, Jo Ann Louise (Schumacher) - Glendale
Jo Ann Louise Schumacher Gombar Ann Louise Schumacher Gombar, 79, was born on July 8th, 1935 in Moscow, Idaho and went to be with the Lord on February 9th, 2015 following extended complications of Alzheimer's disease. She was reared in the Thorn Creek area near Moscow, where her parents became successful wheat farmers. She graduated from Moscow H.S. in 1953, where she was class secretary and then attended the University of Idaho for two years where she was a Pi Beta Phi. She then moved to the Seattle area to be with her oldest brother's family. Observing her exceptional love of children, she was encouraged to continue her college education. She then attended and graduated from Seattle University and taught at elementary schools in the Belleview, Washington area. At a Valentine's Day party in 1962, she met Joe Gombar from Ohio, who was on a temporary work assignment in Seattle. They soon became engaged and were married the following Thanksgiving Day weekend at Saint Mary's church in Moscow. While living in Seattle, Jo Ann gave birth to their two lovely daughters, Jennifer Jo and Ann Renee. Joe's work took the family to Phoenix, Arizona where she gave birth to their son, Joseph Alexander. Joe's work then took the family to Helsinki, Finland and later to Copenhagen, Denmark. From there they moved to the Chicago area and then, back to Phoenix where they remained until now. Her cheerful laughter and bright smile were remembered by all who met her throughout the years. Although much of her life has been homemaking and primary education teaching, she was devoted from her earliest years to Jesus as her Lord and Savior. She encouraged others through prayer and along with her prayer partner counseled others to have that same commitment. She taught the Holy Bible to children, young adults and women as part of this devotion to Jesus as Lord and Savior. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Joseph Raymond Gombar from Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio; by her three children and their families: daughter, Jennifer (Karl) Haines and their children Matthew and Hannah of Phoenix; daughter, Ann Ulsh, (Don) and children Hunter and Rachel of Fort Worth, Texas; and David of Alexandria, Virginia; and her son, Joe (Teressa) and their children Anneliese and little Jennifer of Phoenix. She is also survived by her sister, Coreen and her family of California; a brother, Dale and his family of Oregon, a brother, Herb and his family of Idaho and a brother, Don and his family of Washington. She was preceded in death by her father, Barthol Schumacher; her mother, Helen Herboth Schumacher; brother, Floyd Schumacher; sister, Loyola Stout; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Verna and Alexander Gombar of Akron.
