Carel Ray Harper Sr., 79, passed away peacefully at the Tuscarawas County Community Hospice on Thursday afternoon, December 27, 2012.

Born in Akron, Carel served in the Army during the Korean War in 1951, and retired from the Norton Company in 1995.

Carel is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Joyce Harper and his three sons, Carel R. Harper Jr. (Vicki Harper), Ronald C. Harper, and Randy L. Harper (Patti Harper); five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Graveside service and burial Monday, 10:15 a.m. at Hillside Memorial Park, 1025 Canton Rd., Akron, Ohio 44312, where military rites will be conducted by Mogadore VFW Post 8487. Friends may call at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Rd., Akron, Ohio 44312 from 9 to 10 a.m. Monday prior to the service at the cemetery. (Hopkins Lawver, Akron, 330-733-6271)
