Clarence E. Henthorn
Clarence E. Henthorn, 92, of Wadsworth, died Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at Wadsworth Rittman Hospital, in Wadsworth.
Clarence was born March 28, 1921 in Woodsfield, Ohio to Everett and Susie (Shook) Henthorn.
Clarence worked with the Ohio Match Company as a mechanic and retired in 1985 after 40 years of service. Clarence was a proud veteran of World War II
where he served in the U.S. Army
, Company "A", 2828th Combat Engineer Battalion. He received two Purple Heart
s, Good Conduct medal, and European African Middle Eastern service ribbon with Arrowhead.
Clarence married Anna Lee Banfield on October 16, 1948. Clarence will be deeply missed by his wife; sons, Glen (Julie) Henthorn of Rittman, Mark (Ronnie) Henthorn of Wadsworth, Gary Henthorn of Wadsworth; daughters, LuAnn (Delmer) Holcomb of Wadsworth and Beverly (Keith) Matty of Wadsworth; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; brothers, Charles (Barbara) Henthorn and Harry (Jan) Henthorn; sister Wanda Blackstone.
Clarence was preceded in death by his sisters, Mildred Pittman and Ruth Palmer, and brothers, Lawrence and Everett.
Friends may call Saturday from 10 to 12 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Home-Hillcrest Chapel, Seville. Funeral service will be Saturday at 12 at the funeral home, with Pastor Lance Porubsky officiating.
