Clyde L. Carruthers, age 86, born November 20, 1926 in Akron, Ohio, died February 21, 2013 in Beverly Hills, Fla.
A graduate of Central High and Akron University with a degree in accounting, he served in the U.S. Navy
during World War II
and the U.S. Army during the Korean War
. He sang in both the Fred Waring Choir and Akron Symphony Chorus.
Clyde leaves his beloved wife, Ruth (Ogle) Carruthers; daughter, Laurie Schar; and son, Craig Carruthers; grandsons, Michael and Maxwell Schar, Kevin and Nicholas Carruthers; sister, Kathleen Lowrey; nieces and nephews.
Celebration of Life service April 6, 2013, 11 a.m. at Family of Faith UMC, 800 E. Market St., Akron, Ohio, Pastor Ron Shultz officiating. Friends may call one hour before service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Family of Fatih UMC Chancel Choir.
