Diane (Flay) Lardas

BARBERTON -- Diane (Flay) Lardas, 75, passed away on Monday, November 11, 2013, surrounded by those she loved.

She was a life-long resident of Barberton, Ohio. A proud mother and generous grandmother, Diane graduated from Barberton High School and received her BA from Kent State University. First and foremost, Diane was an artist. She approached everything with verve and creativity. Diane's first profession was teaching. She taught art at the high school level and was a beloved middle school teacher throughout the 1960's. Among other accomplishments, Diane's middle school class was featured in LIFE Magazine for its innovative pedagogy and space-based curriculum. In the 1970's Diane turned to a career in nursing, earning her RN license and working at various local institutions including, Barberton Citizen's Hospital, Manor Care Nursing Home and St. Edwards Nursing Home.

Diane was free spirit. Her charm and beautiful blue eyes will be missed.

Diane is survived by her son, John Lardas Modern; her daughter-in-law, Libby Modern; two grandsons, Leo and Max and her dog, Hudson O'Reilly.

Funeral service will be held Monday, 1 p.m. at the Campfield-Hickman-Collier Funeral Home, 566 W. Park Avenue, Barberton 44203. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12 Noon till time of service.
