Dorothy M. (Senglar) Schroedel-Wilson

SILVER LAKE, OHIO -- Dorothy M. (Senglar) Schroedel-Wilson, age 87, passed away peacefully Sunday evening, June 16th at Traditions at Bath Road surrounded by her family following a short illness.

Dorothy was born February 9, 1926 in Kent, Ohio to the late John Joseph and Pauline Elizabeth (Fedor) Senglar. She was raised in Tallmadge, Ohio on a family farm with her two sisters a brother and her grandparents. Her father was a builder and architect in the Kent, Ohio area. She attended her senior year of High School at Glendale High in Glendale, California after her father had moved the family west for health reasons. She always, however, considered herself a graduate of Tallmadge High School and tried to attend every reunion. She attended Kent State University in Ohio pursuing a double major in Economics and Journalism. It was at Ray's Pizza at Kent State where Dorothy met her first husband, William (Bill) H. Schroedel.

Dorothy and Bill Schroedel raised seven children in Cuyahoga Falls and Peninsula, Ohio and were married until Bill's death in 1984. She later married Ronald Wilson of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio and they enjoyed their golden years together travelling around the country and Canada.

Dorothy was an active member of the Peninsula Garden Club for nearly 40 years. She was active in the Silver Lake, Ohio Chautaqua Club, the Cuyahoga Valley Arts Center, The Hudson Genealogy Club and many local bridge clubs. She was an active member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church for decades and in recent years a faithful member of Holy Family Church in Stow, Ohio.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, William H. Schroedel and her second husband, Ronald Wilson and her siblings, Lilian Komorowski, Joseph Senglar and Dolores Sharar.

Dorothy is survived by her daughters, Rev. Alecia Schroedel, Patty (Schroedel) Gibbons of San Antonio, Texas, Nancy (Schroedel) Yvars of Bow, N.H., and Christine Schroedel of Fountain Hills, Ariz.; her sons, William H. Schroedel, Jr. of Silver Lake, Donald Schroedel of Silver Lake and David Schroedel of Mesa, Ariz.; as well as 13 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Her love for her family, friends and God were the things she treasured most. She will be remembered for her love of life, strength of character, kind heart and unconditional love for her family, friends and extended family as well as her smile and laughter. Her detailed family histories she has written is also her legacy to each new family generation.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, June 20th at the Dunn-Quigley Funeral Home, 3333 Kent Rd. (at Rt. 91) in Stow. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Friday, June 21, 2013 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 3179 Kent Rd. in Stow, with Fr. Ed Holland officiant. Burial at Oakwood Cemetery.
