Douglas A. Coupland

PORTAGE LAKES -- Douglas A. Coupland, age 77, passed away on January 14, 2013.

Born in St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada on December 14, 1935, he was a life resident of Portage Lakes. A veteran of the Korean Conflict serving with the U.S. Marines, Doug retired from P.P.G. Industries after 41 years of service. He was past President of both the Allied Chemical and Alkali Workers Union #1, and the Barberton United Way. He was a former trustee of Barberton Citizens Hospital as well as a member of the Barberton Elks Lodge, Barberton First Hungarian Benefit Society, and a life member of the Portage Lakes Sportsman Club.

Preceded in death by his mother, Christine (Kleinatland) and sister, Christine Sampson, he is survived by his children, Colleen (Ed) Manion, Kathleen Coupland, Bernadine (Dave) Fricke, Douglas (Kate Kinsella) Coupland; grandchildren, Sean, Samantha, Daniel, Caroline; sister, Dorothy (James) Myers; and brother, Joseph Kleinatland.

Inurnment with military honors will be held at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery at a later date. There are no calling hours or services at this time.
