Fred J. Bernat

Fred J. Bernat (Pops), 88 years young, finished his life's journey, May 2, 2013 in his beloved Jupiter, Florida.

He was born in Johnstown, Pa., and graduated from Hower Vocational School. He then enlisted into the U.S. Navy where he was stationed in Melbourne, Florida.

He returned to Akron, Ohio where he began his career as a precision machinist. He was employed with Adamson United and retired from Akron Gear and Engineering.

Fred was an avid sports enthusiast starting with the Cleveland Indians, the Browns and the Cavs. Not to mention the many hours watching the stock exchange.

His legacy was his love of family: wife, Dorothy; sons, Ron (Roberta), David and Thomas Bernat; daughters, Therese (Rich) Vorraber and Mary Ann (Ron) Francis; grandchildren, Chris (Rosy), Michelle, Danny, Ruthann, Sarah, Zach, Sam, Janet, Brittany, Bryan and great-grandchildren; brother, Henry; nephew and nieces.

In lieu of flowers, if so desired, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Palm Beach County, 5300 East Ave., West Palm Beach, FL 33407. Mass of Christian burial will be Friday, May 10 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church. Entombment at Holy Cross Cemetery.
