Fred J. Ellis

CUYAHOGA FALLS -- Fred J. Ellis, 82, passed away May 14, 2013.

Born in Akron, Fred lived most of his life in the Akron area.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Edna (Cory) Ellis; and brother, Joseph Ellis, Jr. Fred was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in Europe. He worked as an industrial designer in the automotive industry, retiring from Chrysler. Fred loved jazz, Japanese food (especially sushi), traveling the globe, singing (he had a beautiful voice), sailing (he had raced as part of a racing team). He was a collector of art and an accomplished photographer. Fred loved people and was a charming and generous man. He was very intelligent and had a unique and delightful perspective on life.

Fred is survived by niece, Julie Ellis of Miami, Fla.; and nephews, Matthew Ellis of Sicklerville, N.J. and Paul Ellis of Herndon, Va. He is also survived by two great-nephews, many cousins, and numerous friends who will miss him greatly.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, June 1, 2013 at St. Joseph Melkite Church of Akron. In lieu of other remembrances, donations may be made to St. Joseph Melkite Church, 600 W. Exchange St., Akron, OH 44302 or William's Legacy, 3122 Hayne Rd., Akron, OH 44312.
