Jay R. Pringle

Jay R. Pringle, of Silver Lake, passed gently into the arms of the Lord, surrounded by his loving family at home, on Friday, March 1.

He fought the good fight, valiantly battling pancreatic cancer for the past year and a half. He taught for the Cleveland Public School system at Whitney Young Middle School for 30 years, where he spent many hours after school coaching baseball, track and basketball. He attended Firestone Park Presbyterian Church, for 30 years, where he served as an elder. Most recently, he was a member of the United Presbyterian Church in Cuyahoga Falls, where he sang in their choir and loved volunteering his time and talents. He also enjoyed many evenings surrounded by his computer club buddies, who became lifelong friends. He was a skilled woodworker, loved fishing, and was a colorful storyteller. He was a devoted father and husband, whose easy manner quickly turned casual acquaintances into dear friends.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Nancy (Haas); daughters, Jamie (fiancé Adam Feltes) of Akron, and Katie (fiancé Dan Gantt) of Columbus. He was preceded in death by parents, Genevieve (Bair) and Robert Pringle. He will be fondly remembered and live forever in our hearts.
