STOW -- Lois Jeanne Tonkin, age 73, of Stow, was taken home to be with the Lord by angels early Thursday morning at Summa Western Reserve.
Jeanne was born March 20, 1940 in Akron to the late Kenneth and Ellen (Bittner) Grether. She was a loving wife and the proud mother of the Tonkin family. She was the most wonderful caregiver to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She always did her best to be fair with her children and anything that she did.
Besides her parents; she is preceded in death by her sister, Karen Grether; and nephew, Kevin Grether.
Jeanne is survived by her beloved husband of 58 years, Willie D. Tonkin; daughters and sons-in-law, Laura (Tim) Lamtman, Cheryl (Ted) Crabtree, Diane (Jeff) Earlenbaugh, and Lisa (Bill) Thomas; son and daughter-in-law, Darrell (Roxanne) Tonkin; eight grandchildren, Angela, Joshua, Jeremy, Sarah, Jeffrey, Jenny, Heather, and Candace; her eight great-grandchildren to them she was always GeGe, Kayla, Emily, Michael, Jacob, Phelan, Elijah, Gwenny, and Wyatt; her sister, Shirley Miller; and brother, Kenneth Grether.
Jeanne and Bill loved spending their time camping at the beach together. They had many happy vacations with their children, grandchildren, and many friends. Jeanne loved looking for seashells and rocks, and she loved working in her yard. Jeanne always made time to comfort anyone in need. Jeanne was such a unique person, where ever she went she made someone smile and they never forgot her. She will be in our hearts forever.
