Mabelle A. Apley

Mabelle A. Apley, 93, passed away peacefully in her sleep Sunday evening, November 30, 2008.

She was born on March 10, 1915, to Harry and Blanche Longcoy, and was a life-long resident of Kent. Mabelle spent her life in service to her family, church, and community, and was well known for her generosity and acts of kindness. She was a long standing member of the Kent United Church of Christ and a retired teacher from Kent Roosevelt High School where she taught Home Economics, was Dean of Girls, and served in the Guidance Department until her retirement. Mabelle enjoyed taking part in the community and served as a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, Coterie I, Church Circle E, and the Retired Teachers Association. Mabelle enjoyed bird watching, gardening, bowling, and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her daughter, Janet (Jim) Brawley of Newton Falls; grandchildren, Lou Ann (Bob) McCracken of Salem, Melinds (Bill) Penfold of Salem, Jamie Brawley of Newton Falls, Cynthia Brawley of Kent; and great-grand-children, Miah Brawley and Maddie Penfold.

Funeral services will be held at Bissler & Sons Funeral Home in Kent on Wednesday, December 3rd at 2:30 p.m., with the Reverend David Pattee officiating. Calling hours will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will take place at Standing Rock Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the RMH Foundation-Hospice, P.O.
