NORTH LAWRENCE -- Oscar Charles "O.C." Garrett, age 89, passed away on January 20, 2013.
He was born on April 2, 1923 in Mayland, Tenn. to Walter and Willie "Happy" (Abston) Garrett. O.C. retired from P.P.G. Industries with 37½ years of service, and was a veteran of the U.S. Army
serving in World War II
. He was a member of the Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses Massillon West since 1951.
Preceded in death by his parents; great-grandchild, Owen Michael Garrett; brothers, Floyd, Walter Jr., Odell, and Otis Garrett; and sister, Essie Mae "Bootsie" Whal; he is survived by his wife of 66 years, Selma; daughter, Barbara J. (Larry) Patterson; sons, Richard C. Garrett, Daniel A. Garrett, Timothy M. (Jean) Garrett, David P. Garrett; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; brothers, Harold Garrett, Lloyd "Skeeter" Garrett, Cordell Garrett; sisters, Kathy Hammock, Stella Mae "Tootsie" Robinson, and Carol Handwerk.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 26, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the Zak-Thacker & Monbarren Funeral Home, 132 N. Portage St., Doylestown, 44230, with Rudy Rex officiating.
