Raymond F. Alderton

Raymond F. Alderton, 86, passed away November 29, 2013.

Ray was born January 14, 1927 in Cumberland, Maryland. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a Seaman 1st Class. He later relocated to Akron, Ohio where he retired from Consolidated Freightways after 30 years of service. Ray continued to drive limousines, and was most recently employed by Advance Auto in Tallmadge, Ohio. The true joys in his life were; playing country music with the Ohio Valley Boys as "Ray Little", Dianne, his wife of 35 years, his daughter, Becky, his grandchildren, and his monthly breakfast with old friends.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Franklin and Gladys. Surviving are his loving wife, Dianne; daughter, Becky Rae (Ron) Owen; grandchildren, Josh, Taylor, Summer, and Dustin Owen. Also left to mourn are siblings, Gladys Harp, Ed (Debbie) Lee; 31 nieces and nephews; and many great nieces and nephews.

A memorial gathering will be held Wednesday, December 4, 2013, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., at Adams Mason Funeral Home, 791 E. Market St., Akron, OH. 44305. Entombment will be at a later date at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Disabled American Veterans.
