Robert Koeberle Obituary

Robert "Bob" Koeberle fell asleep in the arms of Jesus Jan. 27, 2013.

Bob was married to Marge Koeberle for 60 years before her death in 2007. They have four children, seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren: Marilyn and Ed Eitner, Delora and Bill Christner, Weezie and Ken Lyons, Joe and Linda Koeberle; Eddie, Teresa, Mike, Jim, Kerri, David, Rebecca, Foster, Kenny, Jen, Josh, Brittany and Sammie; Logan, Brooke, Jackson, Ezra, and soon, Ellie.

In the eyes of us all, no tougher man ever lived. He was strong as an ox. Dad was a hard worker from the time he was a boy washing wallpaper to the years he cared for Mom. He was so proud of building blimps while serving in the Navy during World War II. He loved to talk about his years in the service, and we loved to listen. He was equally proud of his 28 years as a letter carrier in downtown Akron. He took pride in everything his hand found to do.

Pop, as we affectionately called him, was the sweetest, most tenderhearted "son of a sea cook." He faithfully sent cards to family and friends. He taught us that loving God meant serving others and the church. He taught us to keep going when it got tough, in other words, to be as stubborn as he was. He taught us to pray. He was our hero. He was the love of Mom's life, melting in those blue eyes; and she was his, treasuring her giving heart.

Until we see you again, Pop, we want you to know we won't heat all of East Akron; we shut the door. God bless you, Pop. We love you so much.

Mass of Christian Burial 11 a.m. Friday at Nativity of the Lord Jesus Catholic Church, 2425 Myersville Rd., Akron, 44312, where friends may call 9 a.m. until service time. Entombment at Hillside Cemetery where the Firestone VFW Post #3383 will conduct a military service. Donations may be made to Nativity Church or the St. Vincent DePaul Society.

Please accept my heartfelt condolences during the loss of a gracious gentleman. I had the tremendous pleasure of being Mr. Koeberle's barber for the last 10 years. He was one of my favorite customers and I always looked forward to seeing him when he came into my shop. His loyalty to me is something that I will always be grateful for. I know he will truly be missed. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.

"Perhaps they are not stars,
but rather openings in Heaven,
where the love of our lost ones
pours through and shines down upon us
to let us know they are happy!"
Uncle Bob will be missed by us all, but so many are waiting for him to arrive!

Heaven just got one of the best. We will miss him so much, especially his phone calls and dinners with him, "on his good side", and those sparkling blue eyes. He and his family have always been so special to us, from the first day we met at Sacred Heart. We love you and God bless. Bob and Mary Buza (the best til last)
