James Edward Garrett

James Edward Garrett was born October 31, 1960 in Alpine, Ala. to the union of David and Flossie Garrett.

He confessed Christ as his Savior at an early age. He attended Akron Public Schools. James was a former employee of Alseal Auto Repair. He loved cars and enjoyed playing pool and dancing.

He was preceded in death by his father, David Garrett; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Fomby, Sr. and Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Garrett; sister, Shirley Faye White. He leaves to mourn, his loving mother, Flossie Garrett; long-time companion, Arlene Oldham; daughters, Diamond Oldham, Bryanna Haynes of Savannah, Ga., Patricia Oldham, and Montoya Tatum, all of Akron, Ohio; sons, Edward James Oldham, David James Oldham, and Robert Richards, all of Akron, Ohio; sister, Cora Mae Garrett; brothers, William (Yolanda) Garrett, Timothy Garrett, and Alphonzo (Kayana) Garrett, all of Akron, Ohio; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.

Service will be held Saturday, September 7, 2013 at 1:30 p.m. at Stewart & Calhoun Funeral Home, 529 W. Thornton St., Akron, OH 44307, Rev. Jeff Swain officiating. Interment at Lakewood Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 12:30 p.m. until time of service. Procession will form and condolences may be sent to 954 Raymond St., Akron, OH 44307.
