Rev. Rex Humbard

Rev. Rex Humbard, 88, died September 21, 2007 in Atlantis, Fla.

Born in Little Rock, Arkansas, the son of a minister and member of the Humbard Family Singers, he grew up in Hot Springs, Arkansas. Noted as America's first Televangelist, Rev. Humbard was well known throughout the world through his weekly broadcasts to millions of faithful viewers.

Preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Alpha E. and Martha Bell Humbard and sisters, Ruth and Mary, he is survived by his wife, Maude-Aimee Humbard; children, Rex E. Humbard, Jr. (Kathleen), Don Humbard (Susan), Aimee Elizabeth Humbard-Darling (Daniel) and Charles Humbard (Jennifer); 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brother, Clement Humbard (Frances); sisters, Leona Jones (Wayne) and Juanita Banker.

Services will be held 4:30 p.m. SUNDAY, September 30th under the Tent in the Garden Meadow at Stan Hywet Hall, 714 N. Portage Path, Akron 44303, with Rev. Wayne Jones and his brother, Clement Humbard officiating. Friends may call 2 to 4 p.m. SATURDAY at Ernest Angley's Grace Cathedral, 2700 State Rd., Cuyahoga Falls 44223. Private interment at Rose Hill Burial Park. Flowers will be received by the Billow Fairlawn Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd., Akron 44333.
