DOYLESTOWN -- Adeline Coombes, age 92, passed away on July 19, 2014. Born on June 28, 1922 in Wausaw, Wis. to Arthur and Emily (Derring) Longaberger, she was a resident of Doylestown for 20 years, previously of Wooster.
Adeline worked at Goodyear Tire and Rubber, and was currently one of the few remaining Rosie the Riveters. She was a veteran and one of the first women serving with the U.S. Marine Corp. Adeline was a lifetime member of the Sir Isaac Walton Foundation, and loved to make donations to may charitable organizations for children and veterans.
Preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Larry Russo; second husband, Roy Coombes; brother, Arthur Longaberger; sister, Winifred Frase; special friend, Di; she is survived by her sisters, Mary Ann (Michael) Kindel of Barberton, Donna Zarate of Stockton, Calif.; brother, William (Lovina) Longaberger of Covington, Ky.; numerous nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, July 22, 2014 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Zak-Thacker & Monbarren Funeral Home, 132 N. Portage St., Doylestown, OH 44230. Private inurnment will be held at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Smile Train, P.O. Box 96231, Washington, DC 20090-6231.
